Read more, forget trying to remember vocabulary words
English has two sources: Germanic and Latin. Germanic words are shorter, and potentially have more impact.
Unless you’re going to become a Priest or a professor, forget about studying Latin. Instead, study Spanish, most widely spoken, or French, where most of Latin in English came from. I believe Spanish is more useful and gives the student the vocabulary exposure anyone will get from Latin or French.
Unless you are a linguist, avoid languages with declensions and a myriad of verb endings. Very few persons in the world need the subjunctive.
